Learn new skills, have fun with friends, revive your creativity and stimulate your brain!
What are you interested in? Architecture, fashion design, graphics, using clay, dragging paint across a canvas, imitating master artists, trying something new, or reviving an old passion? I left full-time class teaching two years ago and would love to spend time with you and your friends, sharing my skills and passions and helping you achieve a certificate or improve your wellbeing. I have taught adults, A level & GCSE students, younger pupils, adults with dementia, and have loads of lesson ideas to share with you. I can also tutor wine at the same time !

What will I study and create each week? (lessons will flow over each week, so this is the rough plan!)

3/4 - Explore watercolour techniques and create a circular abstract artwork in the style of (his wife) Hilma Af Klimt.
5/6 - Paint patterned landscapes inspired by David Hockney
7 - Circles/abstract artworks inspired by Kandinsky, using colour theory and oil pastels/pencil blending
What will I achieve by the end of this course?
- Develop a basic understanding of the key elements of art
- Learn about different types of simple composition, and use of positive and negative space
- Begin to understand an use colour theory and colour blending
- Learn from some great artists and build confidence developing your own style
- Skills of watercolour, oil pastel, acrylic paint, pencil blending
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a course for beginners or rusty intermediates needing a refresher. No experience is necessary and live demonstrations will be provided to follow each step, plus support sheets as necessary. Being based on colour and pattern, and less on drawing skills etc, means that everyone attending can achieve some super outcomes and artworks to hang up at home! Attendees must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, and adhere to health and safety information provided. A mixture of teacher, self and peer assessment will be conducted in sessions, in order to identify what went well and areas for improvement. Mrs G may ask you to continue or refine your work at home, so we are all at the same point to carry on the next week (can loan resources).
What do you recommend after this course?
Step it up and hone your skills with a drawing course, using a wider variety of media (charcoal, ink, pencil, pen, paint) and learning to use shade, perspective, positive and negative space. See pics below. Or continue exploring great masters and coming up with your own versions on the next introductory course !

Location details for attendees: Small group evening courses will run at the artist's residence near Orpington high street, in a local room/hall or The Hub training centre at Warren Road Primary School.
